MAN CAVE

Bike on the mantel… yup, a real one

By BRIAN WARREN We at Bounder get a lot of people coming

up to us when we are out and about to tell us about a particular man cave or ultimate garage we should feature. So, when someone came up to me at the

Calabogie Bluesfest and started to tell me about this garage/man cave that had a motorcycle mounted on the fireplace mantel… Well, I had to check it out. I tracked down Kurt Chapman, body

and paint foreman for Thomas Cavanagh Construction, and asked if photographer Todd Langille and I could come for a look. We drove through the gates of a beautiful

property. We were really impressed with the home, three-car garage and inground pool. But

we drove around the house and there it was: another building… the man cave. Kurt loves to build things: cars, trucks

bikes. He works on them all. So it was no surprise that he had this 1600 sq. ft building. What blew us away was the 2009 Street

Glide Harley sitting on the fireplace mantel. And that was just the start. Kurt turned on the sound system: a

whopping 2,000 watts of active subs with complete surround sound. He clicked a remote and a 133-inch screen dropped over the fireplace. Signature Audio apparently built the system.

I’ve never heard a garage sound so good. You will find Kurt many weekends with

a group of friends working on a vehicle here, but when they are done, the work area turns

into a party area when friends gather to watch football or Nascar. Later it doubles as a dance floor. Finally I had to ask about the

bike. Well, it started as a bunch of

spare parts left behind from friends who had Kurt customize their ride. Kurt decided he would build a bike with the parts. And yes, it runs.

Kurt receives a Moosehead sign and a free case of Moosehead beer for being featured in Bounder Magazine.
