Audubon Society Events for Youth and Adults

he Collier County Audubon Society’s 2012-2013 program series offers field trips and informative talks geared to youngsters and adults. Audubon Young Birders Club outings for ages 6 to 18 will be held on October 13, at the Bonita Bay East Golf Course, in Golden Gates Estates, and Novem- ber 3, at Eagle Lakes Community Park, in East Naples. Avian Ecologist Ted Below will speak about identifying area shore- birds at 7 p.m., November 6, at the FGCU Kapnick Center at the Naples Botanical Garden, in Naples.


Each new Young Birders Club member will receive a backpack with a T-shirt, birders’ guide and binoculars with the annual $10 membership fee. Returning members will receive a special renewal gift.

ew author and Naples resident Hu- guette Castaneda will sign copies of her first two books, Autumn Leaves Danc- ing in the Wind and Mariella’s Gifts from the Sea, at 10 a.m., October 13, at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at The Water- side Shops, in Naples. Autumn Leaves is a rich array of personal reflections, written at a time of searching for special meaning, while Mariella’s Gifts is the first in a series of children’s works Castenada plans to write.
