ess than six months after its successful launch, North Sea Ro Ro AB has appointed senior
Lennart Dahlback as Operations Director. Combined, the new directors represent more than 50 years of experience of sea transportation on the North Sea and have particular expertise in Roll-on, Roll-off (Ro-Ro) freight shipping movements. North Sea Ro-Ro AB was launched in January 2012 and is specialising in the transportation of Ro-Ro cargo
between Killingholme, based on The Humber in the UK and Gothenburg in Sweden, offering three sailings per week in each direction. The shipping company operates
two modern Ro-Ro vessels with a capacity of 150 unaccompanied trailers and 25 cars per departure. The service also accommodates a maximum of 12 self-drive vehicles plus various types of lift units and

London Gateway will cut truck mileages
Paper exporter Mark Lyndon UK expects to cut costs and reduce lorry miles by 380,000 by routing containers through London Gateway, the new port at the mouth of the Thames, when it opens towards the end of next year.
The Nottingham-based company
exports about 72,000 TEU a year to Asia and has committed to moving a significant proportion of them through the terminal. Paul Briggs, managing director of Mark Lyndon Enterprises UK, said: “Over a third of the population of

Smurfit Kappa SSK makes bridge to the community
As part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, Smurfit Kappa SSK, the last remaining paper mill at Birmingham, in the UK, recently organised a series of community open days. More than 300 visitors including school children, parents, toddlers and members of local community groups took part in a range of activities at the Nechells plant to raise awareness the benefits of recycling and foster a sense of pride in the local environment.
