Letter From The Editor of Entrepreneur Country Dear Entrepreneur Country Citizens,
I think it’s fair to say that Britain is on a high post-Olympics. I can’t remember the last time there was such a sense of pride in the air, with Great Britain showcasing the nations talent and proving a world of doubters wrong who predicted we would collapse under the pressure. London 2012 also got me thinking about the similar plight of entrepreneurs and Olympians. When you’re an entrepreneur, people only see the end product, the wealth, the glory achieved from what began as just an idea. They don’t care for the sleepless nights, the copious amounts of stress, the months that saw you work the hardest you have ever done in your life, all because you were willing to do anything to reach that finish line.
Us, the spectators, cheered on each athlete as they performed for a few minutes after years of discipline and training. We then put them on a pedestal with ad campaigns and column inches - they became the nation’s hero overnight because they achieved what seemed the impossible. Unfortunately, it soon becomes second nature to forget what they had to sacrifice to get there.
There is also something special in watching the ‘game changers’ of society from the front row, whether that be from a stand at Wembley Arena or reporting on the world’s business leaders in Entrepreneur Country Magazine. It is for this reason that I look forward to the Entrepreneur Country Forum on the 26th September, where we hold an all-day event celebrating our own champions within the business world, including our cover star Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of Iron Maiden and all-round polymath.
