blood stem cell or marrow matches facilitated

3,600

new potential marrow/stem cell donors added to the registry

Thousands of patients are newly diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma each year and need marrow/stem cell transplants to survive. Ethnic origin is essential in finding a donor to match a searching patient and more donors are always needed particularly of diverse racial heritage. Bonfils’ Colorado Marrow Donor Program (CMDP) added 3,600 new potential marrow/stem cell donors including 1,000 ethnic minorities to the Be The Match Registry® bringing the local total to more than 78,000 potential donors throughout Colorado and Wyoming. n CMDP also successfully facilitated 36 blood stem cell or marrow matches in 2011.

n There are 10,000 patients per year whose only hope for a cure is a transplant from someone outside their family and only 4 in 10 patients receive the transplant they need.

n It only takes about 15 minutes to join the Be The Match Registry®
