Bonfils Blood Center’s vision to advance healthcare to a higher level of excellence has led us to support marrow/stem cell transplantation and other types of cellular therapies. Cell therapy describes a process of introducing new cells into tissue to treat a disease or injury. Bonfils participates in the field of cellular therapeutics and immunotherapy to assist in the care of patients dealing with cancer and other medical conditions. n Bonfils performed blood collections on 60 patients and conducted 179 procedures to treat prostate cancer with our partners at the Seattle-based pharmaceutical company Dendreon.
n We also participated with local hospitals and other biomedical firms on 10 additional medical research projects in 2011.
