SUMMER SUNDAE WEEKENDER 2012 17–19 August 2012 De Montfort Hall, Leicester
What started out as a small, 10-hour, one night shindig in a park in the centre of Leicester - Summer Sundae Weekender - has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 years. It’s now a three-day, award winning, musical baptism into the world of festivals. Held in De Montfort Hall and Gardens, a breezy 10-minute walk away from the train station, the festival itself is easy to get to and easy to get around. Despite rocking with a safari theme this year, it’s no trek from ‘Te Lion Den’ (main stage) to ‘Te Watering Hole’ (bar and live music) to ‘Te Crocodile Lagoon’ (main hall). SSW has had a whole plethora of stars grace its main stage and this year is absolutely no exception. Te prince charming himself Adam Ant is headlining, with punk revival gods Public Image Limited following close behind. Katy B, Death in Vegas, Reverend and the Makers, Django Django and Lucy Rose are also playing as well as a whole host of comedy and cabaret. It’s going to be a sweet, sweet weekend. Pun absolutely intended. Described as ‘Te Grandson of Glastonbury’, Summer Sundae Weekender will hopefully rise from the ashes of this years Glasto cancellation and will become the, hopefully less muddy, festival to be at in 2012. Please people, form an orderly queue for tickets. For more information and tickets, visit

01-02 September 2012 Norfolk Showground, nr Norwich SUNDOWN FESTIVAL 2012
Last year, our quiet county of Norfolk loudly and proudly established itself onto the ever-growing UK festival map with prestigious pop festival, Norfolk Spectacular, thanks to some major headliners such as N-Dubz and Tinie Tempah. Look now at 2012, renamed and refurbished, Sundown Festival’s aim is ‘when the sun goes down, the night heats up’. Titillating. Tis year, there won’t just be the main stage and the more intimate, Stage 2, but after the live music has finished, exclusive after- parties will be held in the Warehouse on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Whilst updates are arriving almost weekly – Josh Osho and new girl group Parade being the latest additions – the big news has been the headline line-up; Ollie Murs, Chase and Status, Katy B and Sub Focus are just a few of the incredible acts coming to the Norfolk Showground. Making up the bill are much-hyped acts, such as 16Bit, Funtcase and Breakage who are sure to kick up a good storm even if, hopefully, the weather doesn’t. Sundown officials have said that this year, the second stage will be much more dance, heavy bass, house, garage and reggae heavy, but possibly the best bit about Sundown this year is that tickets start from £29.50. I think it’s important that you prepare for the bassline now. You’re gonna need it. For full line-up, tickets and more information, get over to
