Eighty Educators Receive a Gift from Randolph

A

t the 2012 Heick Symposium on College Admissions hosted by Randolph College

on February 3–4, nearly 80 high school guidance counselors and school administrators from 18 states plus China learned about the economic, political, and cultural forces that are shifting how “going to college” is approached by students and their families. Three alumnae, Robyn Rorrer Puryear ’86, Sallie Thompkins ’70, and Diane Sander Clark ’69, were among the attendees.

The keynote address was delivered by Robert Franek, author of The Best 376 Colleges and senior vice president for publishing at The Princeton Review. He opened the second day of the symposium with his presentation of data on student hopes, worries, and needs.

“It is important for parents and guidance counselors to know there are over 4,000 four-year colleges and universities in the United States. With so many options, there is a good fit for every student.” — Robert Franek
