24 BULLETIN
From the President
As I turn the gavel over to our new Association President, Karen Patterson ’73, I want to reflect upon our accomplishments of the last three years. The Alumnae and Alumni Association has embraced graduates of Randolph College and welcomed them into the Association. We’ve adopted new Bylaws, created the Chair of Student Engagement position, and established a more efficient method for doing business. The Board is effective, and I’m proud to say the Board includes recent alums and ‘not-so-recent’ alums. We have differing opinions and styles, but are great proponents of Randolph College and, as a team, are committed to working to support and strengthen the College. The first male board member, Karl Sakas ’10, will take office July 1, 2012.
The Board is focused on increasing engagement with events at the local level and by providing networking opportunities. We are supporting admissions efforts by recommending prospective students through the Alumnae and Alumni Referral Award program. Students who are referred by alumnae or alumni and admitted will receive a $1,000 annual award recognizing their connection to you. We also sustain giving and are pleased with increased giving in the last three years.
Association President Karen Patterson will lead us adeptly into the future. Great things are coming to Randolph College, and the Alumnae and Alumni Association is sharing in the success. Be part of the victory—grab a college friend and “get engaged!”
