ITH a beer garden where you can soak up the sun while enjoying de- licious food and drink, Oban’s very own taste of the Mediterranean is not to be missed.
Opened just over a year ago, The Olive Garden, on the Railway Pier, has been busy building a loyal local following.
Manager Stacey Felgate said: ‘It’s been going really well, we have been a lot busier this year than last year. ‘We have just launched a new wine list which has a range of Mediterranean wines that are delicious but people may not have heard of.’ These include Frascati Secco DOC from the Abruzzo region of Italy, selected as it goes per- fectly with the Olive Garden’s menu, it has aro- mas of almonds with honeyed fruit and a nice There is also Borsao Garnacha Tinto from
Campo de Borja in Spain, an easy drinking wine that can be enjoyed with a meal or on its own. Why not take it out to the garden on the pier and watch the boats sail by. Stacey added: ‘We also have seafood spe- cials on every day. This can vary as we take the freshest produce straight off the boats so it depends on the catch.’ The Olive Garden was started after an appetite for Mediterranean food could not be sated by the offerings in the town. Stacey said: ‘We like that kind of food and we - less we went to Glasgow. ‘People were a bit bored with what there was on offer in the town and we saw an opening and we went for that style. ‘It is really high quality food in a place you can relax and feel welcome. We treat people like we would if they were guests in our home.’
