Kewill, the global company with its UK headquarters at Guildford, has had cause for a double celebration. It has marked 40 years of supplying technology solutions that enable logistics service providers and shippers to move goods. And it has once again been selected as a Top 100 Logistics IT Provider for 2012 by Inbound Logistics magazine – for the fourth consecutive year.
The news helped the company’s share price become one of the top risers in the league table of Thames Valley-based groups with a 26% leap.
Matching that rise was Milestone Group, the consultants and technology practitioners. The AIM-quoted provider of digital media and technology solutions announced it has raised over £258,000 by way of a placing
of 25,857,000 new ordinary shares for cash with new and existing shareholders. Along with the issues of equity announced in March it completes the proposed £750,000 placement which Milestone said will be used for general working capital purposes.
In a month of mainly subdued share prices, the other main regional success story was John Lewis of Hungerford, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary “in style during what is a quintessentially British year of celebrations,” said the founder. “I look forward to seeing the company continue to flourish whilst remaining true to the ethos of producing wonderful kitchens of outstanding quality, all made in Great Britain.”

For Business is based at Bucks New University’s High Wycombe Campus
Enhancing the knowledge and expertise of employees through training opportunities in the workplace is key to long-term business success, as well as to staff development and retention.
For Business, the business engagement team at Bucks New University, can provide a diverse range of professional development courses for staff, from short courses and continuing professional development (CPD), to degrees and bespoke longer courses tailored to specific organisational needs.
Courses can be delivered to staff ‘on site’ or at the University, or through blended learning, which combines traditional face-to-face classroom methods with learning opportunities online.
Known for its business-facing outlook, Bucks’ s academic and industry knowledge facilitates the delivery of education that is flexible, current and most importantly, ‘fit for purpose’ – and that means your purpose.
A particular area of training expertise within the University is leadership, offered through the Institute of Applied Leadership (INSTAL), which was established last year to support professional development within the public, private and third sectors.
INSTAL aims to develop employees’ abilities to manage, lead and learn, through working with individuals and organisations to diagnose situations and implement practical, customised management solutions. Essentially INSTAL acts as a ‘change- agent’, working with public and commercial sector partners.
The University is also a sector leader in providing professional

courses for the security, continuity management and resilience element of business operations. The course team has exceptionally strong links to the business, continuity and security sectors, who provide input into course design and delivery so that the training meets real-time business needs.
Courses range from one-day workshops to longer, tailor-made, blended or distance learning programmes to suit individual employees’ needs. They cover all areas of business protection and resilience, from information systems to business travel security, and everything in between.
Phil Wood, head of For Business at Bucks, said: “For Business offers a unique blend of business support and development capabilities both for individuals, and on a larger scale for the organisations that employ them. We have a fully consultative approach to the development of learning with organisations that wish to have currency, flexibility and of course value in their professional development programmes.
“Our aim is to be the first port of call for businesses in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding regions who want to grow their people, their capabilities and their competitive edge.”
If you have an organisational training requirement that you would like to discuss, see details below.
