Leo and Duncan and the Wild Horse Claire Wheeler, 7, Ijamsville
One day Leo, a miniature horse and Duncan, an Arabian
horse, went out on a trail alone. T ey saw deer and rabbits. It was night time so it was hard to see. T ey saw a light up ahead.
“Finally,” Leo said. T ey both galloped ahead to-
wards the light in the fi eld. “It is so pretty” Duncan said. “It’s a full moon. Lets count how many fi elds we can see” Leo said. “One, two, three, four, fi ve, six fi elds. T at’s a long way to go.” said Duncan. “Look! In the third fi eld, some- thing is moving!” said Leo. “Come on, lets go! Wait, look they are coming towards us. Maybe they want to be our friends? T ere is the stallion and leader of the herd. We will ask him. T ere is another miniature horse, Leo! You should go say hi” said Duncan. “OK” said Leo, and he walked over to the other mini. “Hi!” said the the other mini. “My name is Rose, what’s yours?” “Hi! My name is Leo” said Leo. Meanwhile, after talking with the stallion and getting permission to talk with the other herd members, Duncan also found a friend named Lilly. All of a sudden they real- ized it was getting late. “It’s almost midnight, we better get home, I am tired” said Leo. “Me too” said Duncan. “We will miss you! Please come back soon!” said the wild horses. T ey gave Leo a letter that said “Come back on Sunday at 7:00pm to this same fi eld.” Leo and Duncan went home and went to bed because
they were very tired. T e next day was Sunday and they went back that night and had a great time. T ey are still friends with the wild horses today.
