And down the stretch they come! The Shetland Pony Flat Race was a huge crowd pleaser. Left to right: Tommy Fen- wick (Puck), Olivia Reynolds (Cricket), Emmy McGuirk (Olney Smarty Pants), Ellee Perri (winner - Olney Mardi Gras) and Hillary Robertson (Olney Phunny)

Who are the real jockeys and who are the kids? It’s hard to tell here in this trophy presentation photo! Sheldon Russell (fi fth from left), who just got back from riding in the Ken- tucky Derby, hopped into the photo with other pro jock- eys. Erin Swope (third from right) accepts her trophy from Nancy Hale for the D.M. “Mikey” Smithwick Me- morial Dash.

We’re not sure who is working harder, Goose or jockey Lauren Lively’s parents Troy and Rachel Lively. Lauren and Goose won the Leadline Trot Race.

Daisy Fenwick retires to the “Jocks Room” after a day of junior racing. Kathy Kusner paved the way for young ladies like Daisy and fought for the right for females to be able to ride on the fl at and over fences at sanc- tioned races.

To help promote the day of pony races at Pimlico, North American Pt-to-Pt riders were on Maryland Horse Radio Show with host Stanton Slater (far left).

Alice Nolen-Wlston, Kellie Witte and Elizabeth Scully weigh back in after the Medium Pony Flat Race.

Lisa McKlveen and Kaymarie Kreidel led the ponies to the post. The pony races at Pimlico came to be as a collaboration between the Maryland Jockey Club and North American Pt-to-Pt Association. Thanks to Maryland Racing Secretary Georganne Hale, the idea came to be for a day of fi ve races. The races were even broadcasted across the country via si- mulcast, HRTV and live streaming online.
