• A prominent figure in building consultancy has been appointed by regional commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard. Grant Drummond joins as head of building consultancy from Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), where he worked for the past two years within the building consultancy division. He will work from offices on the Cams Hall estate in Fareham and on The Avenue in Southampton to provide project and cost management services, as well as building surveying advice, across the growing southern region.
• Mark Johns (right), managing partner of south coast chartered accountants and business advice firm Princecroft Willis (PcW), undertook the Three Peaks Challenge last month, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours, while colleague technical tax director Linda Preece (left) is walking the entire south west coastal path, a distance of 630 miles. Johns was accompanied on the challenge by his partner, Vanessa Smith, both in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
• Caroline Armitage has been appointed as chief executive officer of two charities devoted to helping blind and partially- sighted people: the Royal Blind Society and The Eyeless Trust. Bringing experience from both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors and well known in the legal field, Armitage recently stepped down as an equity partner at Thomas Eggar – after a successful career as a corporate finance lawyer – to pursue a career in the not-for-profit sector. She has experience as a trustee and director of a number of charities.
• Mudeford-based chartered financial planner MFP Wealth Management has appointed Kathy Roe as marketing director to help take the business to the next level. A marketing professional with 15 years’ experience working in blue-chip organisations such as GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and First Drinks Brands, she was most recently marketing manager at Bournemouth-based Organix Brands.
• Planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates has appointed John Acres as director. Previously director of planning at Catesby Property Group, Acres, a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) regional management board, will be responsible for national housing business development.
• Michael Ockwell will take up the role of chief executive at The Mayflower theatre in Southampton in autumn, following the retirement of Dennis Hall. He brings a wealth of experience from a 20-year career in the industry, firstly as a successful actor. He is currently chief executive of the Grand Opera House in Belfast.

• Hampshire accountancy firm CW Fellowes has welcomed Philippa Robinson as its new corporate finance director. This development gives the firm a whole new area of bespoke expertise to offer both its clients and the wider business community. Robinson is a FCA, having trained initially with KPMG locally, and has specialised in corporate finance lead advisory work for the majority of her career. Since a career break she has been at a niche corporate finance boutique where she specialised in working with owner- managed businesses.
• Raymond Brown Minerals & Recycling (RBRM) has named Jim Pugh new finance director. A chartered accountant, Pugh joins the award-winning firm at its Nursling head office. With more than 15 years in accounting and finance, the appointment to the newly- created role marks a milestone in the growth of the company.
• It is auction stations for David Henwood, the latest appointment at regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson. Henwood, who studied property development and planning at Bristol University before travelling, is the new trainee auction negotiator for the central south coast, and will be based at the firm’s regional office at Solent Business Park, Whiteley.
• Independent hotel group, the FJB Collection, has appointed Kirstin Baumann as marketing manager. With almost 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry gained in Germany, the USA and England, her career has seen her working in both hotel operations and marketing. She was previously employed at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
