Henderson Green pioneers P21+ contracts

A leading independent engineering consultancy has been successful in securing the first two contracts in the country under the NHS’ new ProCure21+ (P21+) framework, both of which are on the south coast.

Henderson Green, which specialises in sustainable solutions, was awarded two contracts at St Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight and several contracts at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, both with Kier, when the P21+ scheme was introduced at the end of 2009.

The Southampton consultancy’s work at St Mary’s Hospital will involve full replacement of both the fire alarm and the emergency lighting systems and the contracts with Royal Bournemouth Hospital include the £1.5 million refurbishment of the Stroke Unit.

Russ Pitman, Henderson Green’s managing director, said: “It was an honour to be selected to work on the first-ever two P21+ projects in the country and a fantastic achievement for our team.“

The ProCure21+ framework is a national framework agreement with six supply chain partners (PSCPs) who have all been selected for capital investment construction schemes across England until 2016. The scheme allows NHS clients and joint ventures to select a supply

chain to undertake their scheme, providing an integrated, flexible and transparent process, with minimal risk.

Henderson Green specialises in renewable technologies and the design of engineering systems for complex buildings, both new build and refurbishments, from the smallest contracts to major capital developments up to £50m and in all sectors.

New addition for Mr and Mrs Smith

The Green House has been handpicked as the only hotel in Bournemouth to join the exclusive Mr and Mrs Smith hotel collection.

The boutique and luxury hotel booking specialist selects only the most stylish and individual hotels to be included on its website and in its guidebooks.

The Green House was assessed during an anonymous visit from a member of the Smith team, who brought along their partner to test out its romantic credentials. After proving more than accommodating, the hotel has been welcomed into the Smith family.

Juliet Kinsman, editor in chief of Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Collection, said: “We were delighted not only to boast a Bournemouth boutique bolthole in our collection, but we’re thrilled that we have such an environmentally- friendly hotel to celebrate.“

The company defines a Smith hotel as unique – an out-of-the-ordinary experience, glamorous but value for money, welcoming but discreet. Most importantly, a Smith hotel is memorable for all the right reasons.

Kinsman added: “Bespoke Farrow & Ball tones and Graham & Brown wallpapers, inspired seasonal cocktails and an impressive organic menu, all a stroll from the seaside – what’s not to love? And it’s a cute touch that in summer months the hotel can beg you access to a designer Boscombe Bay beach pod.“
