May Fair celebrations
West Looe was alive with music and dancing recently for the annual May Fair, attended by a large crowd of locals and visitors.
The event was announced by Looe’s Town Crier, Roger Bennett. Organised by West Looe and Lansallos councillor, Edwina Hannaford, the highlight wasthe colourful spectacle of the traditional dance around the Maypole.
Queen for the day was Elysia Gregory and the Green Man was Dale Measures.
Among those taking part were Sheila’s School of Dancing, sea shanty group Minor Key, Cornish folk singers Viv and Roger Bennett, Looe Entertainers, the town’s own ukele band Highly Strung, local folk-rock singer Mark Rice, Looe Primary School, and many groups and organisations running stalls.
Among the visitors were MP Sheryll Murray, and the mayor and mayoress, David and Annette Bryan.
