WRITE A MESSAGE TO CONGRATULATE THE QUEEN Your
Majesty... A
BIT of jubilee brainstorming at Newton Abbot Town Hall has resulted in a Book of Congratulations that will soon be winging its way to Buckingham Palace. Town development manager Sally Henley and College Ward member Cllr Carol Bunday came up with the idea which allows everyone to send personal messages to Her Majesty. ‘The Jubilee is a very special time, one which we plan to mark well,’ said Mrs Henley. ‘All sorts of things are being organised, such
as street parties, and the council thought it would be a great opportunity to put the flags out in the town centre. ‘We’ll have music and street entertainment during Jubilee June, pop into town on most Sat- urdays and there’s bound to be something going on.
‘When the mayor, Cllr Colin Parker, and members said they wanted to send their con- gratulations to the Queen, that’s when the idea of a Book of Congratulations was born. ‘Cllr Parker has already made his mark as has
Cllr Anne Fry, the mayor elect at the time. ‘We hope residents and visitors will do the same and the book will be available for signing at the town hall and in the town centre too.’
