THE BUD LIGHT MAINSTAGE:

Pride in Long Beach, however, is much

more than just a two-day celebration. A full month beforehand, rainbow banners are hung up along Ocean Boulevard and various Pride-related fundraisers and social events get underway. Preparations reach a fever pitch the week before Pride. On Thursday, May 17, Long Beach’s

LGB2Network will host its monthly mixer at Moss & Rock, a recently-opened boutique for men and women on the trendy Broadway strip. The mixer will center on a lively summer and swimwear trunk show with live music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Everyone can then sport their new swimsuits at the LGB2Network’s main Pride event, the Play@ Maya2 Pool Party, on Saturday, May 19. This second annual gala, cosponsored by The Rage Monthly, will take place at the newly-renovated Hotel Maya and include an Andrew Christian swimwear fashion show. Tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance at lgb2network.com (tickets will cost $30 at the door). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Center Long Beach. The spotlight kick-off event of Pride weekend is the Pink Party, now in its fifth year.

Presented by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) and in a hot new location in the city’s East District Arts Village, this party will be flooded the night of Friday, May 18 with pink-clad revelers, performing drag queens (including Jewels and Sonique from RuPaul’s Drag Race) and festive décor. The party begins at 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of First Street and Linden Ave. Admission is $10 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit The Center’s Youth Empowerment Program. Pride weekend will literally get off to a running start with the 20th annual Shoreline

Frontrunners Long Beach Pride Run at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19. This 5K/10K run/walk

presented by the Shoreline Frontrunners of Long Beach is open to people of all ages and abilities, and supports Long Beach and Orange County LGBT youth, education and health organizations. For more information and to register, visit lbpriderun.com. The Rage Monthly will be omnipresent during Long Beach Pride, so be sure to stop by
