April has passed and the White

Party is over, so now we begin… May is the starting month of the homo-hoedowns, the parties, parades and revalries that take place up and down the state. I love a good party and we love to dance till we drop—even at my age—yes I can still dance bitches. We start the series this month

with Long Beach’s Pride Festivi- ties starting with the Pink Party on Friday, May 19 and all of the subsequent events that are hap- pening including the Festival on Saturday and Sunday. This year’s must-attends are Rage Monthly sponsored events; first on Sat- urday, May 19 in the afternoon, come ready to take the plunge at Play at Maya.2. This is the second

year for this series and the Maya Hotel makes a fantastic venue for the event, with it’s fab pool and fantastic views of the city. A perfect place to relax and suck up some rays, because we all need that perfect tan for the rest of the parties to come. Next stop; Poseidon just next door at the historic Queen Mary Also on Saturday, May

19 this dance is sure to “shiver your timbers” as you party the night away. “As it says on the Queen Mary’s website, “Join us Saturday night May 19 as we celebrate Long Beach Pride Weekend aboard the BIGGEST QUEEN in town!” Favorite DJ Manny Lehman is spinning with guest Scotty K and rumor has it there is going to be a special perfomance by a fabu- lous diva to round out the evening. I Can’t wait, we are staying on the Queen which I’ve done once before and it was memorable. You can just feel the history; I kept waiting for Cary Grant or Greta Garbo to come strolling down the deck or see Bette Davis cocktailing at the beautiful Arte Deco Observation Lounge. You really get a sense of what life must have been like back then. Oh and supposedly there are a couple hangers-on lurking about, who haven’t wanted to cross over just yet… So if you feel a sudden chill in your bones, or an ethereal mist passes by, it just might not be the chill marine air your sensing! The photo shoot and fashion spread was also done on the Queen Mary and is a part of

our annual travel issue. Check out the various articles and columns for tips and informa- tion to make your excursions more interesting. We spoke to Charlie David again about his show Bump! on page 42 and he shared some great travel stories. Our fitness writer Blake talks about how to stay in shape on those journeys on page 56, and our ever-savvy fashion advisor Marcellas gives you tips on how to make the journey stress-free and classy! There is so much to see and do this summer, Long Beach is just the beginning. We have

L.A. and S.F. in June, S.D. in July and those are just the majors… I counted 22 alone in Cali- fornia! Oye, who can keep up? “Live like there’s no tomorrow. Don’t ever let this life pass you by…”
