cently purchased Spots Hot from Wesley and Kristen Galyean. The 2001 stallion was inducted into the NCHA Horse Hall of Fame in 2009 and will now be standing at Don Ham Quarter Horses in Sadler.
Arena News Southwest QHAheld the first-ever regular
scheduled Open Ranch Western Pleasure class on February 4 at Las Cruces, NM. The new AQHA class combines elements of western pleasure, reining, and trail. It was bitterly cold and windy, but 41 contestants eagerly competed in the double-judged class. Judge Robert St. Clair placed Turbo Charged Sugar and Jack Younker in first place, while Judge Leanne Williams chose CC Leos Charmer and Celeste Hugens for first place. In that competition, 9 horses qualified to compete in that event at the 2012 World Show.
Big Country QHA’s Mini Circuit, held
March 2-4 in Abilene, resulted in the following AQHA all-around champions: Southwestern Gunman (2-op plus 2-am/Whitney Walquist Vic- ars), Pf Put It In Park(2-op/Buddy Fisher plus 2-
divisions having changed. The March 3 event drew 299 teams, and division cham- pions included #11 (Wally Hayes/David Carnahan), Sr-Youth (Hanna Ball/Ralph Vendor), JR-Youth (Eliza Ball/Ralph Ven- dor), Ranch Hand (Erin Fletcher/Larry Cul- breth), #7 (Chelsea Cobble/Josh Cantwell), #4 (Rick Riechert/Janeice Wallace), #2 (Chelsea Cobble/Kiri Rahi), and 1-Man-Sort (Mike Houston).
