KENDALL PEDIGO The Family

B

orn in Vancouver, Washington, Kendall Pedigo had the good luck of being born into a horse family that spans decades. Her grandparents are

Joyce and Richard Pedigo of Bend, Or- egon where they own a breeding farm with impressive broodmares and stal- lions. Her cousin is Ryan Pedigo, a top hunter trainer and rider in Chino Hills, California. Kendall is a quiet teenager who has a

quick wit and sense of humor that sur- prises you. She is kind, patient and sen- sitive but wise WAY beyond her years. She has a child like fascination with show jumping, people and the sport. Her insight to life is refreshing and en- tertaining. Enjoy this look at her personality

and you will be surprised to learn more about her then even her close friends know. SB: A bit about your Junior career, training and show his- tory. KP: I started with Julia Kubicek just learning what it means to let them just be horses. I had a crazy pony named Choo-Choo that hated to show but loved to gallop around bareback with his and my best friends, King Ar-

thur and Taryn, Julia’s daughter. We would play cowboys and Indians, race around the woods, write stories laying on their back, and hang onto the bar at the top of the tall stall door to slide off as they walked into their stalls. Then I trained with Amy Ruge for the beginning of my Junior Career. I now ride with Linda Worely. My first year with Linda I qualified and competed in the Talent Search West Finals, qualified for the Maclay Regional’s and Pessoa Re- gional’s. In the beginning of that year I fractured my right leg (fibula and tibia), making the big mistake of jumping off my horse when he spun after trying to fix my mistake at a 4’ vertical. SB: With the horses, what are respon- sibilities and how does that work in the family? KP: Responsibilities to my family first, the rule is keep my grades up!! And don’t

be a bad child! Otherwise no horsey’s for me! SB: Best part of being around the horse business and show ring? KP: Being with the horses and learning! Finding new things about horsemanship, knowing how horses think and learning to take every mistake as a learning
