According to the International Medical Spa Asso- ciation, the number of medical spas has grown by 80 percent since 2010 and is now up to an estimated 4,250 facilities nationwide.
Part of the growth has been fueled by the increasing number of cosmetic procedures that require medical training and supervision by a physician. Such services are on the regular menu offered at La Belle: laser hair removal, skin resurfacing, facial toning and tightening, Juvederm and botox injections and photodynamic acne therapy. The spa also offers chemical peels, European facials, Glo Minerals makeup and the Amici 0.3 Hair Growth System.
Baestaens, whose whole-health approach to outer beauty includes nutrition and lifestyle changes, began her career as a physical therapist.

“For 15 years, I worked with people that lived with pain. When their pain was gone and they felt better, my patients wanted the way they felt on the inside to show on the outside, so I became
interested in helping them do that,” she explains.
One of the spa’s most popular treatments helps to tone and tighten the face and body, addressing wrinkles and providing a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The Accent XL dual-layer thermotherapy technique de- livers non-invasive treatment by com- bining two proprietary radio frequency modes and using separate hand pieces to provide therapeutic heat at different tissue depths within the body. “Three to five treatments can tighten loose skin, improve face and body contours and promote healthy collagen production,” says Baestaens. For effective body con- touring, it is advisable to reach an ideal body weight and use this particular therapy for problem areas such as love handles, belly bulges and loose under- arm skin.
