Natural Alternatives for Diabetes Care
P
atients with diabetes and individuals concerned about their blood sugar levels may worry about the risks from traditional medicines they use. The op- portunities for obtaining helpful natural alternatives to drug therapy recently expanded with the opening of Metabol- ic Alternatives, located at 7935 Airport Road North, Suite 102, in Naples. The practice reports that diabetes can double the risk of having a heart attack or stroke, triple the likelihood of dying of kidney disease and more than double the risk of dying from an infec- tion or liver cancer. Diabetes also in- creases the risk of Alzheimer’s and liver disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and nervous system and digestive disorders.
The new provider offers holis- tic treatments to reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Utilizing a specialized acupuncture procedure developed by Dr. Chris Bickford, in conjunction with diet and unique Chi Kung exercises, patients typically see improvements in blood sugar levels, total cholesterol and triglycerides.
