Mutual Carers Project, which provides a range of support for older parents with disabled adult sons and daughters. Support is provided to around 25 families per year and includes respite breaks, emergency planning, cookery classes, welfare benefits checks and help with medical appointments.


The chief executive of Bromley Mencap, Eddie Lynch, said: “This award not only recognises the value and quality of our service but also acknowledges the importance of the preventative nature of the work we do. “Our project was the first of its kind in the UK to meet the needs of ageing parents and their disabled sons and daughters whom they previously cared for, and who have now become their carers.


A LOCAL charity picked up a prestigious award last week.


Bromley Mencap, which supports disabled people and their families and carers, won the 2011 Guardian Public Services Award for Carers, Families and Communities at a ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel, London. The event was hosted by the presenter and journalist Nicky Campbell. Judges were impressed with the charity’s

Students can come from all over EUROPE; HOLLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, ALSO AMERICA &WORLDWIDE DESTINATIONS


Theyvisitthe UK as part of their educational Programme.


The age range varies from 12to 18+.


Short stay groups arrive January to June then Septemberto December and stay in host families usually between 2-6 nights


Long stay students arrive July &August and stay in host families from 2-7weeks.


All students areout all day either atschool or visiting London.

Our students will need to beescorted to and from the meeting place Mornings 8.15 and 7.00 evenings
