More trains for Orpington
RAIL franchise Southeastern is to introduce additional early morning and late evening trains from Orpington.
The firm, which operates services through Orpington, Petts Wood, St Mary Cray, Chelsfield and Knockholt stations, said the increase was in response to passenger demand.
On weekdays there will be an extra morning service into Charing Cross, departing Orpington at 0515, as well as an evening service leaving Charing Cross at 00.06. The changes will take effect from Sunday, December 11.
Local MP Jo Johnson said: “This is especially good news for commuters working long hours. Nevertheless, I will continue to keep up the pressure for fast trains from Orpington at peak times.”
Crash teen in hospital
A 14-YEAR-OLD boy is in hospital after being struck by a car. The teen was riding a BMX push bike when the accident took place last Thursday evening opposite Carlton Parade.
He was taken to Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill suffering life-threatening head injuries. On Monday, his condition was said to be “stable”.

Record crowds enjoy festive fun in Farnborough
ARNBOROUGH village welcomed a record crowd to its Christmas switch-on event on Sunday. Visitors enjoyed singing from local children and were entertained by The Shake and Bake Band, comprising Kristian Baker, Justin Blyth, Neil Marsh, Darren Hickman, Eamon Thody and Mick Ellard.
