robrand, the firm behind a computer products website that is saving government and businesses time and
money, has been presented with a Queen’s Award for continuous innovation by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent. From Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, Probrand delivers
www.theITIndex.co.uk, which is believed to be Europe’s largest automated online computer products shop. It daily updates and compares over 150,000 products and services from more than 2,500 manufacturers and ranks them by best price and stock availability. The award is the first to recognise the growing
information economy and technology manufacturing community in the Midlands. The Queen’s Award recognises Probrand’s high level
of excellence in improving its performance and commercial success through continuous innovation over the last five years.
Triple triumph for Solihull College
Solihull College has scooped three national marketing awards – all in the space of one week. Two of the accolades were presented by The College
Marketing Network, an organisation that supports marketing professionals in the further education system. The college was Highly Commended for Marketing to
Business and Employers, for its successful delivery of the Solihull Showcase event with Solihull Chamber of Commerce. Held in May 2011, the event aimed to attract and engage local businesses whilst launching the college’s new conference and management centres. In addition to this, the College also received the Best
Business Award for Best Communications (Public Sector) in recognition of its New Chapter campaign, which showcased the £31million redevelopment of the College’s Blossomfield Campus using a range of innovative marketing techniques.

Network, was presented to the college’s marketing co- ordinator Michelle Hewitt, crowning her FE Marketing Professional of 2011. Michelle has been instrumental in developing the college’s marketing strategy.
‘We bring a competitive market into one environment where people can buy direct’
Peter Robbins, Probrand managing director, said: “We are focused on giving IT buyers the most efficient ways of getting competitive deals on ICT from across a hugely fragmented, multi-level supply chain. We bring a competitive market into one environment where people can buy direct. “It is a huge honour for us to be recognised as a leader amidst the growing and recruiting Midlands technology corridor.”
The site is saving organisations millions of pounds on product prices and improving buying process by eliminating the timely task of calling numerous suppliers for best price and stock.
directors from
Moonpig.com, Unilever and ICAEW, said that RSM Tenon was a clear winner “with a strong approach to making people fundamental to the business”. They said: “RSM Tenon
understands corporate responsibility and its value to the business. The firm punches above its weight and has a huge belief that it will succeed and carve out a powerful market niche."
Two directors at BHSF, the Midlands-based health insurer, have been awarded further independent recognition. HR and operations director
David Nuttall has gained chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and sales and marketing director Brian Hall has been awarded chartered status by the Institute of Directors. Both accreditations are the
result of personal development plans sponsored by BHSF. David has been with BHSF
since 2001 and completed an MBA through Birmingham University in 2006, and the Chartered status awarded to Brian is currently held by fewer than 1,000 directors in the UK. Peter Maskell, BHSF’s chief
executive, said “Our customers expect excellence in their dealings with us. By helping our people develop and fulfil their potential, they are able to contribute further to the constant pursuit of service excellence and dynamic growth.”
