Alison’s HR journey A

in her role as an HR consultant. She said: “While travelling, I faced many challenges and this experience helped me to develop a higher level of communication skills in interacting with people in different cultures. “I also had to think on my feet when learning how to adapt to unanticipated situations and improvise new plans due to periodic travel mishaps and unexpected events. A classic example was when I was in Peru and there were protestors who had blocked the border across to Bolivia and I had to make last minute alternative travel arrangements to continue on my journey.” Sue has worked for blue chip companies such as Rolls-

Royce and Virgin Media where she implemented a number of HR solutions to save money and increase productivity in areas such as restructuring, resource planning, driving a high performance culture and introducing new sales commission schemes. Evergreen HR Consulting offers recruitment and HR

strategy. Sue said: “Our vision is to develop long-term relationships with clients big or small where we can gain an in depth understanding of their business needs and make sure that we provide proactive HR solutions which match their business goals.”

Sue Green Event to boost apprenticeships

The latest unemployment figures have shown an increase to 2,227 in Cannock Chase. More needs to be done to help individuals gain employment and help companies get an extra brain and pair of hands. A free event, which will help promote

apprenticeships, will be held on 10 February between 9am and 11am at South Staffordshire College. It will be supported by Chase Chamber of Commerce, Cannock District Council and Job Centre Plus.

Businesses will be able to speak to specialist supporting agencies about employing and supporting apprentices. James Whybrow, director of workforce

development at the College, said: “Businesses are now increasingly realising the enormous benefits that apprenticeships create, not only in terms of a highly skilled workforce but also by boosting productivity and staff retention.”
