TIM and Tim’s Top Tips by Tim Lambie & Tim Jones
If you are a Picasa user and are about to move to a new computer, it is a good idea to make a back up from Picasa before you do so. This will preserve all of the folders, etc. and the annotations you may have made within the program. Once you have set up the new computer, install Picasa and then restore from the backup you made. This
is your opportunity to better organize your photos too, as it will allow you to send them all to one new location where they may have been spread about a bit before.
Facebook is one of those modern phenomenons that can either be a complete time consumer or something that nobody wants any part of. If you’re the latter and have given it a go, you may want to permanently delete your account and everything associated with it. Go to the Facebook Help Centre and type delete and you will find the link. Beware though, that once scheduled for deletion it will still be able to be re-activated if for any reason you log in again inside 14 days. So, if you want out, stay out.
I often ask our customers why it is they are using alternative browsers to Safari or Internet Explorer. If your answer is because it stopped working or it was very slow, then that is because there was a problem with your computer that was creating that issue. That would need to be looked at despite it now not being an issue with the alternative. If it is because some sites just do not work in the same way, then I understand that, particularly with Google adwords or Outlook Web Access. If you think this applies to you, then we can advise.
There is a neat feature in iTunes that allows you to share the music library from one machine to all or some of the others in the same household. What is more, once it has been established, you can actually transfer items to one collection from another and not just play them.
Unfortunately, it is still a bit handraulic as the albums are not shown; the library is displayed as a long list of tracks. As long as you know what you want though it can be searched for. Look for Home Sharing.
