Meditations for a Happy Life Kingdon House, North Street, Tavistock 7.30pm


The Ashoka Buddhist Centre of Plymouth, are running a series of meditation classes in Tavistock starting on Monday 20th February and continuing each Monday until 26th March. Formerly held at the Alexander Centre, the classes will now take place at a new venue – Kingdon House, North Street, Tavistock from 7.30pm to approximately 8.45pm.


Each class begins with a guided meditation to relax and still the mind. This is followed by a short talk - each week looking at how we can use some aspect of Buddhist wisdom to find peace of mind and a meaningful life. There is usually a tea break with discussion, an opportunity for any questions, and the class finishes with a guided meditation on the week’s topic.

Ashoka Centre, established as a registered charity in 1997, exists to serve the people of South Devon and Cornwall. It is home to a spiritual community of around 10 people dedicated to achieving peace through following the teachings of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Typical format for a class is a short introduction, a relaxing breathing


meditation, a short talk on the topic of the night, discussion and tea and biscuits followed by a final guided meditation on the topic. The cost is £5 per class or 6 classes for £25. These are drop-in classes, no need to book, which are suitable for everyone, from any background. Whether you’re a complete


beginner to meditation, or if you’ve been practising at it for years, there should be lots to benefit from within each class. Everybody Welcome!
