Hampshire to feature strongly at manufacturing and electronics show

More than 40 Hampshire-based firms are among an elite cadre of high-tech UK engineering firms exhibiting at the south’s top trade show for industrial manufacturing, the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Exhibition, which returns to FIVE at Farnborough, from February 15-16.

ICEE of Waterlooville is keen to encourage stand visitors to stop by to take a look at parts cut by its new fibre-optic laser. It also offers sheet metal fabrications alongside its water jet and laser cutting services. Emma Carrington, marketing co-ordinator from ICEE, said: “Southern Manufacturing gives us the chance to showcase our services to a wide range of potential buyers and offers us a platform to show visitors, through video and samples of cutting and folding, what we can potentially do for them.“

THE BUSINESS MAGAZINE – SOLENT & SOUTH CENTRAL – FEBRUARY 2012

The 2011 Annual Manufacturing Report confirmed manufacturing is a key driver for the economy. UK expertise is very much in demand around the world in areas such as electronics, medical device technology and advanced manufacturing techniques. The Show is the premier forum for these technologies and many more, hosting more than 500 exhibitors in 2011, from industrial manufacturing, autosport, aerospace, marine and medical engineering, and attracting in excess of 6,500 visitors from all over Europe.

Other southern exhibitors include a number of local companies from Bordon, Petersfield, Horndean, Havant, Waterlooville, Portsmouth and New Milton.

Show director Phil Valentine added: “The UK is still a manufacturing stronghold

when it comes to high tech and precision engineering. UK manufacturing is becoming more knowledge-based and it is small firms who are leading the renaissance in UK industry. Many are now winning back contracts that had previously gone overseas.“

The show also hosts a free seminar programme during both days, delivered by experts addressing both business and technical issues in manufacturing and electronics and designed to be of practical benefit to anyone involved in manufacturing and industry.
