Bridal Wear
Allow yourself plenty of time to pick the perfect wedding dress – brides are advised to start hunting for their dress at least six months to a year before their wedding day. Once you’ve found the dress of your dreams, be prepared to pay a deposit, which is normally half the total price of the dress. If you’re torn between more than one dress, don’t be afraid to ask if someone can take a snapshot of you wearing the dress so you can see yourself in it and ask close friends for their opinion of it (I did this and it helped me to make a fi nal decision as to which dress I’d opt for).
Many bridal shops ask brides to book an appointment, so that they can give you their full attention when selecting
dresses. It’s certainly worth making a booking, given that weekends tend to be busy and bridal shops can be booked up months in advance.
Groomswear
Remember it’s your fi ancé’s big day, too, so he needs to feel great about his outfi t. Don’t leave choosing the suits until the last minute, as your groom may need to have it altered and you don’t want to rush the job. As with the wedding dress, it’s important to set a budget before you begin the hunt. The groom will also need to try on different styles to make sure he picks one that compliments the wedding dress, fi ts in well with any colour theme and, above all, suits him. A good way of tying in the theme is to match
your groom and groomsmen’s cravats or handkerchiefs with the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Flowers and Decorations
Your wedding bouquet can be a great way to emphasise your chosen colour theme. Popular spring fl owers include: daffodils, bluebells, freesias, violets and tulips. A seasonal bouquet could be a cost-effective option, as your fl orist won’t have to buy in exotic fl owers from abroad. Like all good wedding
suppliers, fl orists do get booked well in advance, so make sure you don’t leave fi nding ours to the last minute. After the big day, save a couple of fl owers and get them preserved, as this will make a great keepsake.
