Dartmouth Remote Coastguard Transmitter Due the difficulties in ensuring VHF reception in the River Dart a remote transmitter is in place. It has a working channel of VHF 10 on which weather and safety information is broadcast after an initial announcement on VHF channel16.

Speed Limit

There is a 6 knot speed limit in force on the whole of the River to the weir at Totnes upstream of a line, passing though the Castle Ledge buoy, between Combe Point and Inner Froward Point. Wash should be kept to a minimum and no wash at all should be created in Home Reach.

Fuel

Diesel and petrol are available from Devon Marine Fuels’ Barge moored near no.6 Buoy between the Higher and Lower ferries. Fuel is available all week from 0900-1800 during the summer and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 0900-1600 during the winter. Contact the fuel barge on VHF Ch 08 or telephone 07801 798861.
