Feedback from local businesses was overwhelmingly positive with a large number expressing support for the show to become an annual event. US firms setting up in UK seek business help

A survey by expert alliance organisation UK Professional Services has identified a substantial appetite within the US for organisations that can assist them in setting up in the UK. UK Professional Services is a collaboration between Veale

Wasbrough Vizards, Business Control and Baker Tilly, in association with Business West and HSBC. It provides a one-stop-shop for the professional services required when setting up in the UK such as accounting, payroll, legal advice, tax, banking and business support. The survey, which was conducted with the help of UK Trade & Investment’s North American Office, found that 66% of respondents needed tax support and 46% required employment law assistance. The top five service providers needed were: accountant, lawyer, banker, business support specialist and Chamber of Commerce.

LEP to re-elect members

Under the constitution of the West of England Partnership limited company, it is agreed that at the end of its first year of operation two of the five current business board members of the LEP board shall be subject to re-election. Katherine Bennett from Airbus and Dave Sproxton from Aaardman Animations have agreed to be subject to re-election this time around. Given the LEP’s successful start, Business West will be informing the LEP nominations committee that it recommends the re-election of the two sitting directors, David and Katherine.

If you, as a member of Business West, have a view on this recommendation or would like to put forward a candidate, contact Phil Smith, managing director of Business West, by 31 December on 01275 370952 or email: phil.smith@businesswest.co.uk
