MAZATLAN, 


second highest natural lighthouse in the world (El Faro), which began to shine in 1879. The lighthouse lamp was handcrafted in Paris, originally containing a large oil lamp with mirrors and a Fresnel lens to focus the light. Today the 1000-watt bulb can be seen for 30 nautical miles and it also illuminates divers performing daring jumps off the high rocks into the ocean.
