some time with Frank Madden and George Morris. “They are the ones who instilled the love and respect for the sport,” says Amanda. “Everyone’s favorite, Victor Hugo Vidal, took a special interest in me, probably because he thought I was as serious but humorous as he was. He always helped my mom find me horses to show and plenty of catch rides. The Cudmore Family, along with the McConnell’s have always been, and now still are, an amazing support too.” Recently moving to Del Mar, California, Amanda has set some

pretty lofty goals for herself and her business. “I would really like to find a couple of really special dedicated kids with huge work ethics, a bit like I was,” explains Amanda. “I love coaching the eq- uitation and would love to have the opportunity to take a couple of them to the Medal Finals and WIN! It was so special to me and I believe I have what it takes to help someone else achieve that win.” Her commitment to her clients is as unique as she is. “Having

clients and keeping them happy comes down to respect and en- joying them,” she says. “I believe it is very important to think of your friends and clients as family and treat them as I would want to be treated so I treat all my amateur riders like they are my mom, no matter what their age. I never want to make them feel they are below me or less than I am. I want them as a comrade and friend with the joint goal to improve their skills. As far as the junior rid- ers, I NEVER put them down for a mistake, especially when they try something new and it doesn’t work.” Amanda is hilariously funny with such a quick wit that everyone

is unabashedly laughing most of the time. She is, however, intense and focused at the same time. She and her mother have a small, well cared for ranch in Bishop, California where she goes to get away and play with the foals and young horses in their breeding program. “I start all the young horses in the bullpen,” she explains. “I love getting to start them myself and taking them out on the beautiful trails there. It is more laid back and not as structured as I keep it in Del Mar where I am up and teaching at 7:00 AM every- day and keep on the go with so many things I want to do.” There is much life left to live for Amanda and lucky are the

people who chose to cross her path and hang out awhile, that is if you can keep up. She lives each day at race horse speed but has just enough of the “get away from it all” plan for herself that she keeps balance. THAT is probably the best attribute of this amaz- ing, unique and interesting lady…..BALANCE!! She is a nostalgic, but at the same time loves philosophy and uses interesting quotes to help guide her beliefs. Ending this article, one of favorites, is a Wayne Lucas Scott quote that speaks volumes. Enjoy it and take the advice of her friends, clients and family…..

stop and sit awhile and listen to her world, what you will really hear is her heart…and it’s a special one!!

Love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don’t! If life gives you a chance, TAKE IT, If it changes your life, let it! Nobody said the ride would be easy… They just said it would be worth it!!
