Professional Development Programme
At Bath we want to ensure you gain more than an academic qualification from your time here. The Bath Advantage means that our students acquire enhanced skills, helping you to achieve higher levels of employability. This is why we have incorporated the Professional Development Programme (PDP) into your MSc timetable.
PDP is designed to make you aware of ways to develop transferable skills and to understand how best to articulate these skills. The Programme provides opportunities for you to find out more about different careers, companies and industries, helping you to make informed and targeted job applications. PDP aims to support your professional and personal goals – wherever and whatever these may be.
We pride ourselves on our excellent links with employers and on the employability of our graduates – the School was recently ranked in the top two along with Oxford for graduate prospects (The Times Good University Guide 2012). Our strong, well-connected alumni network provides another link between the School and a wide range of different industries. Our graduates understand the high calibre of teaching and research in the School and maintain a close relationship with us throughout their career.

• Sessions on skills development • Tools to help with self- assessment
• Tailor-made website with CV builder, job opportunities and other online resources to help with career development
• Opportunities to network with company representatives and alumni
• Sector-based sessions with Bath alumni to allow you to learn from the experiences of those working in the industries or professions you are interested in
• One-to-one drop-in sessions for feedback and referral
• Optional mock interviews and assessment centre activities with company representatives
• Signposting to other opportunities available within the University and wider community which can enhance your skills and boost your professional profile
