Hosted by the school’s Parent Teacher Com- mittee, the event feature lo- cal businesses and craftsper- sons selling a variety of items, many of which are hand- made. Additionally, Country


Day students will be on hand selling handmade ornaments and baked goods, including country ham sandwiches and pepperoni rolls.


Dec. 10: CraftWorks Holi-


day Craft and Art Bazaar, 10am–5pm at CraftWorks’ new Studio at Cool Spring, 1469 Lloyd Road, Charles Town (corner of Lloyd and Wheatland roads). Local crafters will sell their wares for the holidays. Your “non- shoppers” can walk the trails at Cool Spring while you shop! Directions: South on Route 340 past the animal shelter. Turn right on Wheatland just past the truck stop. Follow Wheatland 2 miles till it ends at CraftWorks.


Dec. 10: Historic homes


and buildings will be decked out in holiday finery for the second annual Christmas Home Tour in downtown


Charles Town. The self-guid- ed tour features five historic district homes, the Presbyte- rian Church and the Jefferson County Museum. Tour hours are 11am-4pm. A Christmas marketplace held at the Old Charles Town Library will feature vendors selling fresh greenery and decorating sup- plies, handcrafted items and unique gift items. Market- place hours are 10am-5pm. Tour tickets are $15 for adults and $2 for children. Entry to the marketplace is free. Tickets may be purchased at the marketplace or prior to the event by calling 304-724- 8871.

ley Audubon Society has set December 17 and 31 as the dates for this winter’s annual Eastern Panhandle Christ- mas Bird Counts. These local-area counts are part of a volunteer-based Christmas Bird Count that has been con- ducted throughout the west- ern hemisphere every year since 1900 under the auspices


of the National Audubon So- ciety. The purpose is to moni- tor the status and distribu- tion of early-winter bird pop- ulations. Both experienced and novice birders are wel- come to join in this season’s Eastern Panhandle counts. Novice volunteers will be teamed with those who have more experience.
