Cares Project this month with the goal is to provide a “one-stop-shop” where people can receive emergency food, pre-screen for food stamps and sign up for a range of other services, including housing, employ- ment, medical as well as low cost utility programs. The event takes place during the monthly San Diego Food Bank Community Food at The Cen- ter, where fresh fruits, vegetables and other food items are distributed and available to anyone. No proof of income or ID needed, but organizers ask participants to bring bags for items. Come early to find parking on the street, as there is no parking available since the parking lot is used for the distribution. The line for food begins to form approximately 8 a.m. Booths for signing up for food stamps and other services open at 8 a.m. The food is normally gone by 10 a.m. San Diego Food Bank Distribution happens on Tuesday, December 6, at the San Diego LGBT Community Center, 3909 Centre Street in Hillcrest. Series presents a special guest to discuss issues perti- nent to LGBT professionals and their allies during a sit down lunch. December’s guest speaker is Honorable Congressmember Bob Filner, who in 1992, was elect- ed to the United States House of Representatives and is also a candidate in the 2012 San Diego Mayoral race. The GSDBA Professional Luncheon Series takes place Tuesday, December 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Top of the Park, located at 525 Spruce Street in Hillcrest. The luncheon is $25 per person. The event benefits ToFF and is a rare opportunity for the community to help preserve the catalog of Finland’s work and aid to promote the very artists that have bestowed so much upon the community. LAUGH OUT PROUD COMEDY SHOW San Diego’s only gay-produced comedy show featuring the re-


gion’s best out and allied comedians is sure to light up the holiday cheer with the Laugh Out Proud Comedy Show at Martinis Above Fourth. The show features allied comedian Chris Fleming of Los Angeles, local LGBT comedians Sarah Burford and Sean Wherley, gay Los Angeles comic Scott Backman, and lesbian headliner Shann Carr, who performed for ten years on Atlantis Cruises. Re- cently voted amongCurveMagazine’s top-10 funniest comedians, Carr currently stars in a Palm Springs talk show Does Your Momma Know, and has written for a handful of popular LGBT magazines and published her own book titled You’re Going To Be Gay. The show is geared toward anyone aged 21 and up and is free with no drink minimum. Guests are welcome to come early to enjoy a full dinner menu in the lounge setting of Martinis Above Fourth. Laugh Out Proud Comedy Show is on Thursday, December 8, at 8 p.m. Martinis Above Fourth is located at 3940 Fourth Avenue, Suite 200 in Hillcrest.
