generosity of the new owners, Hillcrest Care. All profits earned by the fair organisers continue to be donated to charities. Stalls at these fairs are available only to charities and non-commercial organisations which retain all the profits they themselves make. Three major exhibitions describing and explaining the historical development of Hayes have also been mounted by the association in the past. The association supports the work of the Friends of Hayes Common and Friends of Hayes Parks, and also pioneered an anti-graffiti campaign by helping to organise clean-up groups. In recent years, the association has been the driving force behind the Hayes Christmas lights, working with local traders and organisations to organise this popular event which attracts visitors to see what Hayes has to offer. Our aim is to continue to increase membership and so
have a more representative view from the residents of Hayes. In common with other organisations, we have difficulty in persuading younger residents that it has as much to offer them as well as the older generation. The association needs their active support if it is to remain
truly representative of the local community. Forthcoming events include a bingo session on September 30 in aid of the Hayes Christmas Lights Fund, HVA Quiz Night on October 15 and Hayes Christmas Lights event on November 26.
