Q: What type of projects are you recruiting for in Australia?


A: We have a strong presence in a variety of sectors from city high-rise developments to mining infrastructure, railways, ports and a particularly strong focus in the oil and gas market.


Q: Which skills do you require?


A: We are looking for a variety of skills and experience in civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical and instrumentation engineering. Roles we are recruiting for include quantity surveyors, planners, project managers and construction managers, to name a few.


Q: What projects are on offer and how soon do they start?


A: We have a range of current vacancies with immediate start dates (visa dependent), and there are many more positions due to become available from 2012 and beyond.


Q: What is the duration of the projects?


A: We are currently working on projects with durations of up to four years, and have an ongoing pipeline of work coming on stream.


Q: Are there training and development opportunities?


A: Yes. Laing O’Rourke is renowned for and rightly proud of the investment we make in training and developing our people. We will work with you to identify your career aspirations and create plans to help you meet these.

Q: Do you offer relocation support?


A: Yes, we want your transition to be as smooth as possible and will provide a range of assistance, including flights and initial temporary accommodation.


Q: What about work visas?


A: Providing you meet the criteria of qualifications and experience for the role you are applying for, this is usually a straightforward and relatively quick process. We will also manage your visa application and pick up the related costs for you and your direct dependants.


Q: What support is available to dependants?


A: We will provide you and your family with information about local schools, job searching, housing and other important issues to ensure your transition to Australia is as enjoyable as it should be.
