Global Entrepreneurship Week runs on the week commencing the 14th of November and is a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people, with millions unleashing their enterprising talents and turning their ideas into reality.


Every day in the UK, people talk about making a change in their life and consider starting up a business. By connecting individuals to practical support and those who have done it already, Global Entrepreneurship Week 2011 will help turn these exchanges into the businesses of tomorrow.


14th November: The British Library’s ‘Question Time for Entrepreneurs 2011’


‘Question Time for Entrepreneurs 2011’ is your opportunity to quiz four of the UK’s top businessbrains who have all started and run their own successful business. Speakers include Co-Founder of StartUp Britain Lara Morgan, homeware designer Emma Bridgewater and former Apprentice winner Tim Campbell. 15th November: Global Entrepreneurship Week Party

17th November: Born Global


“Even when you look at your existing business, it’s not always clear where the next growth opportunity is.” Bill Gates.Competing internationally is crucial to today’s entrepreneur. The ‘Born Global’ Workshop in association with the UKTI looks to explore the ways entrepreneurs and innovators are growing their businesses by looking beyond Britain’s borders. 17th November: IBM SmartCamp


IBM SmartCamp is a unique event enabling entrepreneurs to collaborate with IBM to develop innovative solutions which build a Smarter Planet. Five startup finalists will be joining an inspiring group of international mentors to polish their pitches in preparation for this showcase event on the 17th November. These companies, typically under five years old, have technology solutions that are real - beyond the conceptual idea or business planning stage.

18th November: The Pitch 2011 Grand Final and Global Entrepreneurship Week UK Closing Party.


Britain’s biggest small business competition comes to a close at 6pm on 18 November at London’s legendary Pacha nightclub. The winners of four heats in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as a wildcard finalist picked by the public will pitch live on the dancefloor to judges including The Secret Millionaire star Carl Hopkins and serial entrepreneur Karen Darby. The overall champion will receive business support worth £50,000.
