Village Government

The Village of Lincolnwood is a home-rule community that is governed by a Village President and a six member Board of Trustees. They are each elected “at large” which means that individual Trustees do not represent individual wards or precincts, but each represents the Village as a whole. Participation in government is encouraged. The Village has eleven standing commissions comprised of residents and business leaders. These commissions serve in an advisory capacity to the Village Board of Trustees. The Village President and Board of Trustees appoint a Village Administrator to oversee daily operations, develop the annual budget, enforce rules and regulations and implement the mission and policy objectives of the Village Board. The Village Administrator supervises the activities of the following departments of the Village: Village Administrator’s Office, Police, Fire, Public Works, Community Development and Parks and Recreation.

has been able to maintain its low tax rate by progressively pursuing the type of economic development opportunities that fit into the fabric of the community. Governing development in the Village is a Comprehensive Plan which establishes goals for all land use planning.

The Township provides not only general assistance services to eligible residents, but also a well-stocked food pantry, and offers services and programs to educate and enhance the lives of its residents. One of the stellar programs this year is the Coast2Coast Prescription Drug Card offered by the Township.
