Career Outlook Robert Abreu


Robert Abreu is vice presi- dent for Global Leadership & Diversity at Goldman Sachs & Co. Before join- ing Goldman Sachs, he spent the majority of his career working for retail and international banks. In April 2010, he was selected as the new president of Dominicans on Wall Street, an organization for which he previously served as vice president. Abreu is president of LISTA New York Tech Council. He is active in a number of community-based and professional organizations, boards and philanthropic organizations including The Hispanic Federation and Junior Achievement of New York. Abreu also is part of the leadership of Goldman Sachs’ Hispanic Network and a supporter of diversity recruiting efforts for the company.


David Contreras


Contreras is one of the founders of the Latinos in Informa- tion Sciences and Technology Associa- tion and serves as its California regional director. Currently he is the healthcare technology adviser with SpeedTrack, which offers the only information discovery engine applied to California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development public


data set. He has more than 20 years experience in technical consulting, system architecture, business and channels devel- opment with IBM midrange platforms. Previously, Contreras was in the technical and sales areas with DataMirror and Vision Solutions. He left IBM as a high-availability specialist to work as a senior IT consultant. He has consulted with companies in sales, development and technical departments to get new and better high availability products to market. He has trained business partners to better understand the new technology and teach new sales strategies.


Jose Delgado, Ph.D.


Jose Delgado is an advisory member for the Latino Health IT Initiative Board. He has more than 25 years of experience in information technology and more than 24 years in health care manage- ment and


administration. Delgado has spe- cific experience in health care management and operations,


information technology and software development, financial services, manufacturing, emerging technology development and management consulting. Delgado has expertise in set- ting up and operating medical clinics and physicians’ offices; HIPAA implementation and compliance; training related to HIPAA, compliance, operational and financial controls; and international business operations. Delgado also has developed operating manuals for several health-care professionals and organizations.


Gene Fernandez


Gene Fernandez is chief information officer at L.A. Care Health Plan. In this role, he is responsible for articulating the vision and establishing the strategy for integrated information technology at L.A. Care. He also is responsible for providing leadership in the develop- ment, implementation and governance of L.A. Care’s


information systems and technology infrastructure. Fernandez has extensive experiences with health care IT systems imple- mentation, business process re-engineering, and IT strategic planning and project management. He has more than 20 years experience as a health-care information executive. He previously served as chief information officer at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
