As I finish this update, the auditors are completing the annual
audit. Preliminary indications are that we have finished this past year stronger than ever. Tis could not have happened without the support of each and every one of our loyal members: Te Power of an Association.
Our Future Challenges to the civil justice system continue to test our
resources and the commitments from our members. In an effort to continue to be in the forefront of preparing for, and responding to, these increased challenges and to boost outreach to those who most need members’ services, this fall will see MAJ undertake a focused effort to recruit more members. In some cases, I may ask you for your help, either by volunteering for phone-a-thons
or participating in other membership recruitment and retention programs. And in a synergistic partnership to this membership drive, MAJ’s Education and Programs Committee and all our Section Co-Chairs have committed to offering members the quality program topics and featured speakers that will move you and your practice forward. Additionally, more effort to communicate the value of our services and the value of membership will continue and we are working diligently to find new ways to reach out to the community of plaintiff attorneys. Growing MAJ will grow the profession, and increase the power we have throughout our community: Te Power of OUR Association.
Biography David B. Walls, CAE, CMP is the Executive Director
of the Maryland Association for Justice. In this capacity, Mr. Walls is responsible for the overall operations of the Association. Former managing director for ELM Services, Inc., Mr. Walls has spent more than 34 years in the association, meeting planning and hospitality industries. He earned the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 2004 and earned his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Designation in 1991.
