Help your business grow with GO Wales!

G

o Wales is a programme delivered by the University of Wales, Newport in partnership with all other Welsh

universities. Funded by the European Social Fund and the Welsh Assembly Government, Go Wales provides a range of services to support the Welsh business community. The cornerstone of the programme is the

Student & Graduate Subsidised Placement Scheme. If a company is looking to undertake a project or would like to bring some fresh ideas into the business then you can access graduate level skills through a GO Wales Placement. The programme offers a free recruitment

service – the company selects the most appropriate candidate and is asked to employ the student or graduate for the duration of the placement, normally around 10-weeks. Companies are asked to pay the placee a gross weekly wage of not less than £250 but GO Wales provide a wage subsidy of £95 for each completed week.

Hundreds of different organisations across

Wales have benefited from the scheme. Claire Griffiths, from Newport-based HSJ

Accountants, said: “Organisations should put the placement scheme into their recruitment options; graduates are often full of ideas and just need a helping hand to gain that valuable work experience. In return they offer fresh ideas and new skills and the financial incentive that the GO Wales scheme offers is an added benefit.” Go Wales is just one of a wide variety of

business services at the University of Wales, Newport. As well as commercial research projects and flexible training and development, the university offers consultancy and problem solving, student placements and support with profile raising and networking. For further information about GO Wales
