This year’s Pickin’ In The Panhandle music and barbecue festival will be held Septem- ber 10–12 at the Lazy A Camp- ground in Back Creek Valley, near Martinsburg. Pickin’ in the Panhandle cel-


ebrates the best of barbecue, bluegrass and roots music. And, as is a bluegrass festival tradi- tion, everyone is welcome to bring their own instruments and jam. The festival will fea- ture over 20 bands on three stages, the KCBS state barbe- cue championship, a backyard BBQ cook-off, an arts and crafts barn, the popular Kids Korner, and vendors featuring among other things—you got it, bar- becue.


“Pickin’ in the Panhandle


has grown each year and this year we’ve added some new at- tractions that will entice our BBQ and bluegrass audiences,” said Andrea Ball, festival direc- tor. “We’ll be adding a third stage featuring West Virginia bluegrass artists, music work- shops for beginner musicians, and a Tastin’ Tent where our attendees can enjoy samples of the barbecue competition.” The 2011 musical lineup in-

ley, Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass, The Hillbend- ers, Lonesome River Band, Fitz- maurice, Junior Sisk and Ram- blers Choice, The Lilly Moun- taineers, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Darrell Webb Band, NewFound Road, Shannon Wurst, Back Creek Valley Boys, Stoney Creek, Appalachia, Sta- cy Grubb, Dry Mill Road, Circa Blue, Half Bad Bluegrass Band, Appalachian Flyer, and Mid- night Ryde Bluegrass Band.
