The Homeopath’s Corner Texas: Back-to-School Choice About Vaccines

by Cindy L. Griffin, DSH-P, DIHom., BCIM, DCNT D

awn Richardson, Director of Advocacy for the Nation- al Vaccine Information Center (www.NVIC.org), and Co-founder of Texas’ own Parents Requesting Open

Vaccine Education or PROVE (www.vaccine-info.org) recently wrote an excellent article for the NVIC e-newsletter. The title caught my eye: “No Vaccine, No School? Not Really.” (read the full article at: http://www.nvic.org/NVIC-Vaccine- News.aspx) Her point was that parents are being illegally and unethically coerced to vaccinate their children in many states because of misinformation or errors of omission by school officials. The bottom line is we hear every day, “but I have to vaccinate my child for them to go to school.” No, you must either vaccinate, OR get a vaccine exemption in one of three forms in the State of Texas in order to go to school. I unquestioningly vaccinated my three children before they went into school. My oldest even got her “12-year-old shots” but I stopped vaccinating my younger two after realiz- ing that my son had an adverse reaction to some of his first vaccines, and ultimately ended up with a diagnosis of Asperg- er’s Syndrome. He has recovered, through the Houston Homeopathy Method, and is a college freshman, has a car, a part-time, responsible job – but I grieve some of the bullying, social and academic problems that could have been avoided in his childhood, had I “just said no” to some of his vaccina- tions. Vaccine injury is a reality – which is why there is a spe-

cial, Congress-created court for awarding monetary payments for vaccine injuries, and a Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) with the CDC. For more information check out the NVIC website. Know your rights as a parent. Almost every state has vac- cine exemptions of various types. Texas has a religious exemption, a medical exemption (must be written by a doc- tor) and a philosophical exemption. If one of your children has been vaccine injured or suffered an adverse reaction, s/he is eligible for a medical exemption, as are his/her siblings. Check the NVIC website for state-by-state links and informa- tion on exemptions available. And if you believe your child was injured by a vaccine, there is hope for reversing the damage it caused. The Houston Homeopathy Method has helped many children recover from neurological sensory, cognitive and developmental disorders, whether caused by or contributed to by toxins, vaccines, medications, or chemicals.
