level land below the highway, most sites are relatively closely spaced compared to other provincial parks we have visited. BC Rail train tracks run close along the campsite border and if you are not used to trains passing by, the temporary disturbance may be annoying to you. We arrived Friday in the late aſt ernoon

and set up camp, had dinner and took a short walk around the campground before retiring. T e next morning we awoke to a low foggy mist over the water and chilling morning air greeted us as we emerged from our home-away-from home. Aſt er diving in the morning, Rick,

myself and my sons, Peter and David, took our truck and visited the Village of Britannia Beach, 8.5 km north on Hwy 99, ten minutes from Porteau Cove between the small seaside village of Lions Bay and Squamish. T e village has a General Store, with a liquor agency and lottery, the CRS Trading Company, a Native Art Gallery, the BC Museum of Mining (a designated British Columbia Historic Landmark) and the Galileo Coff ee Company. We enjoyed a delicious cup of coff ee

while taking in the sights of this small community. Many travelers from the highway heading northward to ski at Whistler or mountain climb in Squamish stop at this popular coff ee shop before carrying on to their destination. We stopped to snoop in the windows

of the BC Museum of Mining and made a mental note to visit again when they re-open for the season. On our return to camp, I decided

against a second dive in the aſt ernoon and instead enjoyed a walk with our dog Kona, to a lookout point on a small peninsula jutting out into Howe Sound. I passed the outdoor summer interpretive centre amphitheatre and the oceanfront walk-in campsites before reaching the lookout at the tip of the peninsula. T e views over Howe Sound were captivating.

This site, on the inside of the grounds, has lots of room to stretch out and enjoy the weekend.
