What a Difference a Few Months Make
Brandy Stanley has moved from the
sublime to the… In her PT cover shot in February 2011, she was head of parking for the city of Manchester, NH. Her win- ter months were spent digging out meters and keeping warm. Today, she is head of parking for the city of Las Vegas and, she says, “Lovin’ it.” Stanley is being tasked with setting up a parking “department” in the gambling mecca, as now the parking operations there are divided among nearly half a dozen dif- ferent city departments. Is she bothered by the daily temperature exceeding 100°? Nope, not in the slightest bit. Stanley also is on the host committee for the 60th annual NPA Convention and Expo com- ing up Oct. 3-6 at Caesars Palace in her new hometown.
Impark’s Parent Company Bought by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
Imperial Parking Corp. (Impark) announced in late July that the Ontario (Canada)
Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’) had entered into an agreement for the acquisition of Babcock & Brown Gates Parking Investments (BBGPI), which includes Imperial Park- ing. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. BBGPI, a joint venture between Gates Group Capital Partners, a Cleveland-based
private equity firmand Global Partners Fund of London, acquired Impark in 2006. The current transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval and expected to close this year, was led by Teachers’ Long-Term Equities Group, which is focused on direct investments with steady cash flow and growth potential over a long-term horizon and a low to moderate level of risk. “We are extremely optimistic about the benefits of Teachers’ investment,” said
Impark CEO Allan Copping. “The new partnership will allow [the company] to fur- ther invest in the technology, processes and people that enable us to deliver innovative parking solutions.…As Impark enters its 50th year, the company is well-positioned to develop its core strengths and continue its sustainable growth.” “Impark has established a very strong position within the parking and real estate
sectors,” said Lee Sienna, Vice President of Teachers’ Long-Term Equities. “As a mar- ket leader, it is an excellent fit with our investment criteria … We look forward … to continue building the company in Canada and achieving new expansion in key U.S. markets.” Blackstone Advisory Partners acted as exclusive financial advisor to Impark on
this transaction.
