NEW MINIATURE INFRARED CHIPLEDS IN LOW-PROFILE OPTICAL TOUCH SCREENS

Touch screens demand infrared components that are super low-

profile and extremely powerful. The new ChipLED SFH 4053 infrared emitter (IRED) from Osram Opto Semiconductors combines tiny dimensions with high efficiency, making it ideal for low-profile, all- in-one computer, tablet, PC and laptop displays. And the new IRED is so small that it can be easily integrated into smart phones as well. In basic versions, an array of infrared emitters and detectors creates a grid of vertical and horizontal beams. The components are housed in a low-profile frame measuring a half to one millimeter in depth around the screen.

If you have ever had to splash your way

through a parking garage, take heart: High Concrete Group, a leading fabricator of precast parking garages, now accurately and economically casts drains directly into new double-tee driving surfaces. The innovation takes away the problematic guesswork of field-installations that may improperly locate or grade the drains. From a maintenance standpoint, standing water can seep into and eventually weaken structural joints. Chloride-laden water can permeate low-strength field-applied concrete and corrode the reinforcing steel inside. Getting stormwater and snowmelt out of a garage just got easier.
